Xpeng’s first car in the UK has already been vastly improved – but costs the same

► Latest Xpeng G6 revealed► Faster charging, more equipment► Entry price remains at £39,990 Xpeng’s first car to launch in the UK has only been on sale for 10 months, but the Chinese brand has already announced revisions and improvements to its G6 SUV. It might not look like much has changed, but Xpeng claims to have made ’20,000 incremental developments’ to all sorts of things – from the look, specs, interior and technology. You may be able to spot the new full-width light bar (the old one was separated with the Xpeng brand logo), as well as new wheel designs and a fresh colour called Stellar Purple. There’s also a new AWD Performance Black Edition (pictured below) which, as you can guess, goes for the stealth look. The biggest news, though, is revisions to the battery and charging tech. The G6 still uses an 800-volt electrical architecture as before, but a new 80.8kWh LFP battery enables up to a claimed 451kW DC charging peak (good luck finding a charger that can do that), and Xpeng claims ‘a 30 per cent increase in battery lifespan.’ A heat pump is now standard across the range, too. Xpeng says it’s tweaked the handling a bit, with ‘chassis and suspension tuning, steering dynamics, electric powertrain behaviour, battery management’ all claiming to have been improved. The same with noise and vibrations. Fresh materials are applied inside, and the front seats are now heated, cooled and massage-enabled. Upper models have a digital rear view mirror, and the infotainment has been given a bit of an overhaul with a new user interface and better voice assistant. And yet the entry price remains the same, starting at £39,990 – making a base Xpeng G6 cheaper than even the new basic Tesla Model Y Standard that was unveiled in the summer of 2025.
